Did you just graduate nursing school or have you been a nurse for quite some time and are looking for a change? Per Diem could be your next step in your career! Receiving your RN license is an amazing accomplishment and has the potential to take you to many exciting and beautiful locations. If you like the idea of being a travel nurse, but you don’t want to stray too far from home, then Per Diem nursing could be the better option for you! Per Diem, Latin for “per day,” is a form of temporary nursing that provides high wages in hospitals and clinics in your area.
Check out these benefits that come with the Per Diem Lifestyle when considering it as the next option for your career in nursing!
You might not already know that as a Per Diem Nurse the opportunities are endless! There is always a need for Per Diem nurses because there is a big demand for nurses who have a flexible schedule. As a Per Diem Nurse, you will have the choice of many locations and the times you work!
Did you know Per Diem nurses make an average of $105k plus a year? One nurse from Northern California reported making $19k in two weeks by being on call everyday and having a flexible schedule. Typically, a traditional RN works 12 hour shifts with 4 day weekends, and more often than not there isn’t an ability to work overtime. Consider Per Diem nursing a side hustle to pick up on your days off at your RN day job! The best part is the ability to pick what days and hours work best for your schedule.
Walking into the same hospital, doctors office or clinic everyday can get mundane if you’re someone who likes variety in their routine every now and then. As a Per Diem nurse, not only are you usually getting paid more but, you are visiting new offices / hospitals and making new friends! Having this variety in your career as an RN can help boost motivation and positivity!
Yes, you read that right! When you are a Per Diem Nurse, one of the benefits is being able to become employed by more than one healthcare system, hospital or agency. This gives you an advantage and better bargaining power to obtain better shifts and wages. Also, if your goal is to be a full-time Per Diem Nurse, then contracting with multiple agencies increases your chance in having a full-time schedule.
The most amazing thing about choosing nursing as a career is that you know you can take your career in a multitude of directions. It’s always a great feeling to know you have multiple options and directions and we hope we’ve let you in on one of those possibilities being Per Diem nursing!
Here at KPG Healthcare, we specialize in finding you the perfect Per Diem opportunities in the beautiful state of California. For more information on how KPG can work with you, visit our Per Diem page!
Halloween is here and it is time to bring out the fun costumes, indulge in a crazy amount of sweets and of course, eat / drink pumpkin-flavored everything! *As we currently sip a Pumpkin Spiced Latte*
That being said, we thought we’d celebrate this spooktacular holiday by listing the top 5 awesome health benefits of eating pumpkin – because pumpkin bread and pumpkin seeds definitely have their perks!
Benefits of the Pumpkin:
Pumpkin is packed with vitamins and nutrients that boost your immune system and keep you healthy. This fruit is high in Vitamin A and Vitamin C, which are both known to help strengthen your immune system and fight off infections. Eating pumpkin may be the key to staying healthy during the cold and flu season!
Consuming pumpkin should definitely be on your “can eat” list when looking to lose a few pounds. Pumpkin is a fiber-rich fruit, which keeps you fuller for longer, leading to less binge eating. It also contains only a few calories per serving. This fruit should be an important part of your diet if you’re looking to lose some weight before the holidays.
Pumpkins are extremely dense in Vitamin A and Vitamin A is great for optical health as it helps the retina absorb and process light. As we age, and our vision begins to deteriorate, this vitamin is especially crucial in our diets. Consuming pumpkin is perfect for keeping your vision sharp!
Pumpkin is one of the best sources of beta-carotene. Beta-carotene is a very powerful antioxidant and it gives pumpkin its bright orange color. Once digested, your body turns beta-carotene into Vitamin A. Consuming this compound can protect against asthma and heart disease and may even reduce the risk of developing certain cancers.
Last but not least, pumpkin is a fruit that promotes healthier and younger-looking skin. As mentioned above, pumpkin contains a tremendous source of beta-carotene. Not only does beta-carotene help protect against cancer and disease, but it also helps protect us from the sun’s wrinkle-causing UV rays!
Ok, we’re SOLD and have decided to pick up pumpkin everything after work.
The KPG Healthcare team wishes you a fun and safe Halloween! Remember to wear something reflective on your costumes tonight and to carry a flashlight with you for safety purposes and don’t forget to fill up on pumpkins!
Until next week!

I won’t name drop, but a certain medical director of a group based in Southern California took time out of his busy schedule to discuss a potential partnership between our companies. During these discussions, he was willing to educate me on aspects of Hospital Medicine from a Business perspective, and the knowledge has been extremely useful since. Thanks Dr. ******!
What, in your opinion, can an applicant do to stand out?
I personally love unique CV’s. When I see one that visually stands out amongst the masses, I’m much more likely to think of that applicant in the immediate future.
Where’s your favorite place to travel?
The desert! I’m always interested in a trip to Joshua Tree.
Let’s talk food. What’s your favorite cuisine?
