Best Community Events in LA

Los Angeles, as one of the cities that never sleeps, has a seemingly endless amount of activities and events to fill your time with. With so much going on at once, it might seem daunting to pick just one thing! To help you out, we’ve compiled a list of some of our favorite things to do in LA in the summertime!

Levitt Pavilion Summer Concerts

Each year, MacArthur Park hosts its Levitt Pavilion summer concert series. Every Thursday through Sunday, you can see tons of artists from just about every genre. The best part? It’s completely free! All you need to bring is a chair, something to eat, and a few friends if you’d like!

Rooftop Movie Night

A local favorite is participating in one of the many rooftop movie nights LA offers in the summer. Check out the Rooftop Cinema Club and Melrose Rooftop Theatre websites to see where the next one will be hosted and if you don’t happen to like tonight’s movie, you’re in luck! You can catch plenty of different films throughout the summer ranging from old to new and widely varying in genre.

Disneyland

When you’re in Southern California, you have to go to Disneyland. It’s called “the happiest place on Earth” for a reason, after all! Aside from all the classic attractions and events, you should also check out this summer’s Pixar Fest parade, the Star Wars themed additions to Space Mountain, and the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride: Operation Breakout at California Adventure. If lines aren’t your thing, downtown Disney has plenty to offer too, from drinks to food to shopping to virtual reality gaming!

Bike the Beach

A great way to spend your day off is exploring the beaches of LA. Stop by Santa Monica Bike Rental or any of the bike kiosks scattered along the beaches. You can take a ride along the iconic, 22 mile long Strand or head inland to explore the city.

Sawdust Art Festival

The Sawdust Art Festival is a yearly, summer art event where you can explore a hand-built “village” that showcases hundreds of artists. The festival also offers live music, various craft booths like jewelry or pottery making, food from open-air cafes, and beautiful ambience from the surrounding eucalyptus trees. This festival is a great contrast to the busyness of the city and perfect for any art-lovers.

Hiking Trails

LA is home to many great hiking trails with plenty of unique features. You can take the Griffith Park trails to the Hollywood sign, find plenty of photo ops on the La Tuna Canyon trail, or spot old film relics on the Malibu Creek State Trail. Check out our “Must-See Hikes Out of Los Angeles” blog post to read more and discover a few more!
